Filmed on location at Purdown Bristol. This is an historic WW2 site under threat by developers. In my film the developers are represented by powerful mystical forces. The caretaker has no desire to aid the destruction of Purdown and the strange beings that dwell in our shared history. Up against superior forces, he can only help the creatures move on.

The Lunatic, the Lover, and the Poet
My second MA student film.
To many the language of Shakespeare has become difficult, strings of archaic words with lost meanings. For others the language of multiplayer online video games is silly and incomprehensible. Both these languages enrich our experience through play and performance. Expanding the treasury of our imagination. Creating shared intimacies that bring us together.

Paper Planes
My first MA student film.
Loosely based on Orpheus’s journey to the underworld. The soldier travels to an alien planet believing he has made a deal with Time itself for the return of his wife. Time is making paper planes torn from its own body; eventually time itself will run out. The soldier, oblivious to wider concerns, has taken a gun to offer in exchange for his wife. Thus humanity provides the tool for its own destruction.

Family Portrait
Having created the set and creature, I was reminded of Japanese family portraits taken prior to the terrible destruction caused by the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The creature brings shoes, preparing the couple for the photograph. Orion Grant, not knowing I had made this connection, added a Japanese song from the same period while editing the video. Serendipity.
